The phylogeny of The Canterbury Tales
Article Abstract:
There are around 80 different manuscript versions of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales but it is uncertain which version the author actually wrote. A new study uses an evolutionary biology technique to analyse the phylogeny of 58 existing fifteenth-century manuscripts of 'The Wife of Bath's Prologue'. The analysis of 44 of the manuscripts reveals that the several which have been ignored by scholars may be descended from Chaucer's original and shows that Chaucer's original copy was a working draft rather than a fair copy.

Loving them too much

Animal overpopulation has led to the killing of millions of these creatures. Unfortunately, the root source of the problem lies with people who care too much for them. They include breeders, animal shelters, community and government leaders and people who just love them excessively.
