Scientists with analytical skills and an eye for efficiency from a highly regulated process might find that manufacturing offers great career opportunities. Manufacturing introduces the more regulated side of the pharmaceutical industry and it could serve as a stepping-stone into other portions of the industry, including discovery or regulatory affairs, for those scientists starting their careers.

The biologists have broken cells down into their constituent parts, identifying genes, proteins, and their interactions. Systems biology aims to put the organism back together again from these newly identified parts, and to predict its behavior in nearly any situation.
