Measuring the demographic and genetic effects of pest control in a highly persecuted feral pig population
Article Abstract:
The demographics, abundance, and molecular ecology of a persecuted feral pig population that was subjected to control is investigated, by applying methodologies to determine changes that can be quantified, in the population structure or dynamics of these pigs. The results suggest that the recovery in federal pig density witnessed in the controlled area was the result of reinvasion from feral pigs outside the study area, but within the same genetic population and not from a separate genetically distinct population.

Illegal translocation and genetic structure of feral pigs in western Australia
Article Abstract:
The molecular ecology of feral pigs was investigated to understand their social and population genetic structure. The data offered considerable insights into the dynamics of the feral pig populations and identification of 'new' approaches that might allow for better control of this highly destructive species.

Habitat use of warthogs on a former cattle ranch in Tanzania
Article Abstract:
A study of the habitat use of the common warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) was conducted on a large, abandoned ranch in Tanzania. Results suggest that recolonization of an abandoned rangeland with little or no wildlife is likely to begin in nutrient-rich areas such as the former paddocks.
