Article Abstract:
The protection of more than 116 million acres of nature in the Northern Hemisphere by The Nature Conservancy is highlighted. The financing strategy called a debt-for-nature swap under which the U.S. government forgoes a part of a developing country's hard-currency debt in exchange for the country putting its resources into conservation is discussed.

Betting the farm

The donation of conservation restriction to The Nature Conservancy for their 56 acre farm by the MacVeety's in Berkshire, Massachusetts, United States is reported. Their decision towards conservation was influenced by three rare species of turtles in their farm.
