Metamorphosis of a quantum wire into quantum dots
Article Abstract:
Research shows that gallium arsenide semiconductor quantum wire contains spatially resolved photoluminescence images of excitons which become spatially localized when the quantum wire is heated. Evidence suggests that the an exciton relaxation limitation may impact optical devices designed with quantum dot technology. A diagram of the semiconductor quantum wire cross-section is given to illustrate the peaked wavefunction activity.
