Metapopulation dynamics and amphibian conservation
Article Abstract:
Comparison of simple caricature of ponds-as-patches metapopulations to the dynamics of real systems and seeking when the discrepancies do or do not matter for amphibian conservation is reported. It is concluded that the effects of pond isolation may be a concern primarily in disturbed environments where interpond dispersal is impeded by barriers such as roads or urban development and translocations and active management may be essential tools for conserving amphibians in landscapes containing multiple breeding ponds.

Forest Roads as Partial Barriers to Terrestrial Salamander Movement
Article Abstract:
Research on the impact of forest roads on red-backed salamander populations is presented. The presence of roads significantly affects salamander movement, as did steep roadside verges. Road surface types did not appear to affect salamander movement.

Estimating decline and distributional change in amphibias
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on amphibian distributions. The authors have investigated changes in this distribution via the use of historical information to estimate the effects of resurvey duration.
