Environmental surrogates for predicting and conserving adaptive genetic variability in tree species
Article Abstract:
The testing of easily measured surrogates, such as ecological attributes as predictors of adaptive genetic variation between populations of a tree species is studied using factorial regression and structuring models. The results show that significant relationships between particular surrogates and growth patterns of variation are due to effects of natural selection that had occurred in the population source locations.

Predictors of species richness in northwest Florida longleaf pine sandhills
Article Abstract:
Research on forest dynamics in northwestern Florida indicate that plant and arthropod species richness is significantly and positively linked to bird species richness at subplot levels. In a comparison of 1994-1995 and 1998-1999 data, it is suggested that species richness is correlated to fire regime management.

Bird Species' Tolerance of Secondary Forest Habitats and Its Effects on Extinction
Article Abstract:
Research on endemic bird populations in Brazil's remaining Atlantic Forest does not support the theory that certain species might survive in secondary habitats after loss of primary forest.
