Fallow deer and wild boar pellet group disappearance in a Mediterranean area
Article Abstract:
High-density populations of fallow dear and wild boar can cause serious damage to crops and woodland and it is crucial that management agencies have information about local population densities, often obtained from pellet counts. An estimation of pellet group disappearance is a crucial factor in assessing ungulate numbers. An investigation into the disappearance of fallow deer and wild boar pellets in the Maremma Natural Park, Italy, shows that, for optimal reliability, pellet group counts in the Mediterranean area should be undertaken in winter when the disappearance rate is minimal.

County-level factors contributing to deer-vehicle collisions in Arkansas
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to examine the influence of county-level factors on the density of reported deer-vehicle collisions (DVCs) in Arkansas, USA by using multivariate approach. Results focused two components contributing to the DVCs, one representing the forest matrix and the other describing the urban environment with high road densities and heavy traffic.
