Minimizing leg-hold trapping trauma for otters with mobile phone technology
Article Abstract:
A protocol for the capture of otters using padded leg-hold traps coupled with Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) trap alarms is evaluated. Results showed that functioning alarms reduce the injuries suffered suggesting the use of GSM traps alarms under the principle of refinement in animal experiments.

Response of wolves to experimental disturbance at homesites

Field assessed injury to wolves captured in rubber-padded traps
Article Abstract:
Foot injuries assessed during routine capture operations on multiple projects were analyzed to determine the efficacy of rubber-padded traps. Results concluded that managers and researchers should use rubber padded foothold traps to live trap wolves.
