Planning for Biodiversity: the Role of Ecological Impact Assessment
Article Abstract:
A critique of the Israeli environmental impact assessment process is presented, citing the absence of ecosystem perspective, adequate analysis, and quantitative data contained in more than 52 environmental impact statements submitted since 1995. Recommendations for improving statement quality include incorporating ecological consultation.

Demographic Models and Reality in Reintroductions: Persian Fallow Deer in Israel
Article Abstract:
Reproductive success and survival rates are presented for Persian fallow deer reintroduced between 1996 and 2001. While the mean number of deer released per year was lower than initially planned and population growth slower than anticipated, survival was higher.

Characterizing core and corridor use by Nubian ibex in the Negev Desert, Israel
Article Abstract:
Results indicate that ibex conservation in Israel's arid zones necessitate protection of ibex habitat in core zones and corridors. Data also point out that it benefits other rock-dwelling species in the area.
