Modification of ecosystems by ungulates
Article Abstract:
It is now becoming more widely accepted that indirect interactions among species may be more important than direct ones in influencing ecosystem patterns and processes. For this reason, it has been useful to look at indirect effects of ungulates on nutrient cycling, disturbance regimes and net primary production in terrestrial ecosystems. It was found that historical context plays a significant role on how ungulates influence ecosystem process. Ungulates have a number of functions in ecosystems, including controlling the switching of ecosystems between alternative states.

Fertility control in free-ranging elk using gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist leuprolide: effects on reproduction, behavior, and body condition
Article Abstract:
The effect of biodegradable implants containing the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist leuprolide on the reproduction, behavior and body condition on female elk populations was studied. Results reveal that this method is effective in controlling fertility in free-ranging female elk.

Effects of fertility control on populations of ungulates: general, stage-structured models
Article Abstract:
Detailed field studies using control techniques over long time periods are required to thoroughly understand impact of fertility control in ungulates. It has been possible to develop models giving an insight into the dynamics of populations regulated by fertility control.
