General observation of n-type field effect behavior in organic semiconductors
Article Abstract:
The use of an appropriate hydroxyl-free gate dielectric such as a divinyltetramethylsiloxane-bis (benzocyclobutene) derivative that could yield n-channel field-effect transistors (FET) conduction in most conjugated polymers is demonstrated. It is shown that the n-type behavior was elusive because of the trapping of electrons at the semiconductor-dielectric interface by hydroxyl groups, present in the form of silanols in the case of commonly used SiO2 dielectric.

A molecular metal with ion-conducting channels
Article Abstract:
It is reported that the charge-transfer salt Li(sub0.6)(15-crown-5-ether)(Ni(dmit)(sub2))(sub2)H(sub2)0 shows both electron and ion conductivity. A pathway for electron conduction is provided by the stacks of the nickel complex, and channels for lithium-ion motion are provided by stacks of the crown ethers. There is also evidence of electron and ion motion coupling.

Molecular-scale interface engineering for polymer light-emitting diodes
Article Abstract:
Ultrathin charge-injection interfacial layers were incorporated in polymer light-emitting diodes (LEDs) using the layer-by-layer polyelectrolyte deposition method, resulting in highly efficient single-layer polymer LEDs.
