Molecular basis of photoprotection and control of photosynthesis light harvesting
Article Abstract:
The atomic structure of the major plant light harvesting antenna protein LHCII by X-ray crystallography is determined. The findings present a spectroscopic analysis of the crystal form and identify the specific changes in configuration of its pigment population that give LHCII the intrinsic capability to regulate energy flow.

Early options in photosynthesis
Article Abstract:
The rocks of the Buck Reef Chert in South Africa provided convincing evidence that the organic matter preserved in the rocks is of biological origin. The reconstruction of ancient marine environment from 3400-million year-old rocks in South Africa strengthens the case for the existence of photosynthetic microbes.
