Astronomers hunger for more despite richness around them
Article Abstract:
Increased government support and international recognition are both needed so that Chile can acquire greater participation in the field of astronomy. Chilean astronomers are now demanding more telescope time, joint programs and public benefits from foreign institutions based in the country. The European Southern Observatory argues that Chile must first train its people and come up with quality proposals before they can make such demands.
