Multiple mating and repeated copulations: effects on male reproductive success in red flour beetles
Article Abstract:
A study is undertaken to examine the influence of two male behaviours, multiple mating and repeated copulations, on male insemination success, female fecundity and paternity success in the red flour beetle. The findings indicate that males may frequently engage in multiple mating but this would result in diminishing male productive returns.
