Of Hess crust and layer cake
Article Abstract:
Recently reported spreading of the ocean floor in serpentinite crust away from the fracture zones in the North Atlantic region in combination with other geophysical evidences has given rise to serious questions regarding the validity of the models of Earth geology available in 1995. The new model conforms to the theory of segmentation and focusing of magna generation over space and time. Generation and location of different crusts due to magma are discussed.

Compositions of near-solidus peridotite melts from experiments and thermodynamic calculations
Article Abstract:
A dual-stage diamond-aggregate extraction method is used to show the results of peridotite melting experiments. The experimental results coupled with the thermodynamic calculation results on peridotite melting show that fertile peridotite undergoes near-solidus melts that are enriched at 10 kbar in the compounds SiO2, Al2O3 and Na2O. Results also show that peridotite melts are depleted in the compounds FeO, MgO, and CaO in relation to higher-degree melts.
