On thin ice
Article Abstract:
The short and long term effects of the snow melting were studied to understand the climate changes. The short term melting sudden return to cold weather, harmed plants and soils which resonated through the whole ecosystem, and long term melting amplified climate warming at high northern latitudes because the sea ice became less, the proportion of sunlight reflected by the ocean and the ground decreased and sunlight not being reflected by snow and ice was absorbed.
