Article Abstract:
A Japanese company, EcoValley Utashinai, is converting heaps of refuse into energy by using a plasma arc, a jolt of electricity that ionizes gas in a chamber and produces temperatures of up to 16,000 degree Celsius, or almost three times hotter than the Sun's surface. Atlanta-based Geoplasma and Wilton-based Startech Environmental are also planning to build their own plasma-arc facilities in Florida and Panama, respectively.
