Ordering chaos with disorder
Article Abstract:
New research in nonlinear dynamics suggests a revolutionary view that runs counter to the conventional theory that identical oscillators facilitate the synchronization of nonlinear oscillators. The researchers began their study with periodically forced pendula that lapse into spatiotemporal disorder if the pendula are identical. But the system quickly reverses into periodic behavior when the disorder is introduced, an instance of enforcing order with disorder.

Here be no dragons
Article Abstract:
Issues surrounding complex systems, chaos theory and biological evolution are discussed. Chaos theory can be applied to many areas, and it is possible that one day it may be used to make sense of historical probabilities.

A departure from equilibrium
Article Abstract:
A simple model of a non-equilibrium system is reported, that allows very detailed calculations, and fluctuations surround the non-equilibrium steady state were found to be different from those at equilibrium.
