Organosilica the conciliator
Article Abstract:
Mesoporous organosilica is fabricated that allows mutually antagonistic molecular groups, one acidic, one basic, to coexist peacefully. The self-assembly synthesis of mesoporous organosilicas with framework and surface groups, followed by appropriate chemical transformations, is a promising method towards obtaining nanostructures with two opposing properties.

Observing and the observed
Article Abstract:
The interactions between a cryogenically cooled nanomechanical resonator and a nanoscale device called a superconducting single-electron transistor are explored. The resonator itself is an object somewhat like a guitar string that, when excited, vibrates at radio frequencies (about 21 megahertz) and amplitudes typically of only atomic dimensions.

Rotational actuators based on carbon nanotubes
Article Abstract:
The construction and successful operation of a fully synthetic nanoscale electromechanical actuator incorporating a rotatable metal plate is reported. The rotating plate serves as a paddle for inducing and detecting fluid motion in microfluidics systems.
