A positive-feedback-based bistable 'memory module' that governs a cell fate decision
Article Abstract:
Research shows that a self-sustaining pattern of protein kinase activation can maintain a cell fate with the help of response generated at a system level by a group of signal transducers. Results demonstrate that the p42 mitogen-activated protein kinase and the cell-division cycle protein kinase Cdc2 system mediate such a biochemical response.

Bone adaption requires oestrogen receptor-alpha
Article Abstract:
Bone's osteogenic response to loading in mice lacking functional oestrogen receptor (ER-alpha) is investigated. The result from the study indicates that the strain related responses by differentiated cells of the osteblast lineage require ER-alpha activity.
