Painful choices
Article Abstract:
The storage of nuclear waste must be quarantined from civilian economies given the threat from terrorism. However, in order to save natural systems upon which our future depends we need to be receptive to new and probably painful choices on the strict provison that we gain direct environmental and social benefits from any concessions associated with economic development.

A short seller makes a long bet

Robert Wilson, an 80-year-old retired hedge fund manager-turned-conservation philanthropist, has made hundreds of millions 'shorting stocks' that upside-down investment strategy wherein money is made on declines in share prices. Through his charitable trust, he is fulfilling a $100 million pledge to underwrite the 'Wilson Challenge', a matching-grant program.

The pride of Cerro Punta
Article Abstract:
Luis Sanchez Samudo has used a unique way in Cerro Punta, Panama, to educate people about the nature surrounding them. Samudo has started 'The Rare Pride' campaign that uses puppets, songs, buttons and posters to convey its conservation messages.
