Patch occupancy and potential metapopulation dynamics of three forest mammals in fragmented afromontane forest in South Africa
Article Abstract:
The persistence of three medium-sized rare forest mammals in the fragmented mist-belt podocarpus forest of the midlands of KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa is investigated. Their rarity is ascribed to the fragmentation and destruction of their forest habitat.

Extirpation and recolonization in a metapopulation of an endangered fish, the tidewater goby
Article Abstract:
Researchers studying endangered species must understand metapopulation dynamics and not assume all metapopulations are identical units. This was the conclusion of researchers who analyzed extirpation in a metapopulation of tidewater goby in southern California.
