Paying for tolerance: rural citizens' attitudes toward wolf depredation and compensation
Article Abstract:
Multivariate analysis of responses regarding tolerance of wolves in a rural Wisconsin region indicates that the most accurate predictor of tolerance is social group, with bear hunters being the least tolerant followed by livestock farmers and general residents. While compensation was approved by respondents as a tolerance incentive, no evidence was found to indicate it has an affect on tolerance levels.

Nonlethal techniques for managing predation: primary and secondary repellents
Article Abstract:
Both aversive stimulus devices and disruptive stimulus devices were tested in multipredator environments in Wisconsin. Results show that the disruptive stimulus device, which consisted of behavior-contingent visual and audio repellents, were more effective in preventing predation by wolves than the aversive stimulus device, an electronic training collar.
