Reply to Povilitis: another conservation conundrum
Article Abstract:
Technologies, not humans, are unnatural, and a biodiversity crisis exists because of human activity, especially economic development and industry. Clearly defined principles are needed so that conservationists can effectively work together. The social constructionist notion that the masses will become conservationists if they are assured they, humans, are a part of nature, not apart from nature has been advanced, but does not stand up to scrutiny. Education tools are needed to bridge gaps.

Intervention and persistence in small populations of bighorn sheep
Article Abstract:
Population size remains a valid component of extinction prediction methodologies. Although some researchers have indicated that other aspects such as environmental factors are more important, population size should be taken into account as part of an overall model of extinction predictability, increasing their accuracy and thereby enhancing conservation planning efforts.
