Plague trial verdict leaves biologists split on biodefence
Article Abstract:
Thomas Butler was arrested in January after he reported that vials of plague bacteria were missing from his laboratory at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. The jury cleared Butler of serious crimes relating to his handling of samples of plague bacteria, but convicted him of defrauding his university through contracts with drug companies.

Five Bulgarian nurses along with the doctor were sentenced to death by firing squad by a Libyan court for the crime of deliberately infecting 400 children with HIV causing death of 40 children. The scientific evidences proved that it was due to the co-infection with the Hepatitis B and C, spread by the poor hospital hygiene.

High noon in Libya
Article Abstract:
Six health workers and professionals in Libya were recently charged with the accusation of deliberately infecting children with the virus that causes AIDS. The charges were dropped then because of the various evidences provided by the scientists that showed that the infections were incidental.
