Planar cell polarity signaling couples cell division and morphogenesis during neurulation
Article Abstract:
The role of planar cell polarity (PCP) signaling during neurulation in zebrafish is shown to demonstrate that non-canonical Wnt/PCP signaling polarizes neural progenitors along the anteroposterior axis, where the polarity is lost during cell division in the neural keel and re-established as daughter cells reintegrate into the neuropithelium. This result reveals a function for PCP signaling in coupling cell division and morphogenesis at neurulation and indicate a previously unrecognized mechanism that underlie NTDs.

The role of RhoA in tissue polarity and Frizzled signalling
Article Abstract:
The Rho family p21 GTPases is found to affect the tissue polarity of the 'Drosophila.' In this specie, the planar polarity of the epidermal structures and are damaged due to mutations in the genes 'frizzled,' 'prickle-spiny-legs,' and 'dishevelled.' RhoA is needed to restore the mirror image symmetry in the said epidermal structures. JNK/SAPK-like kinases are also found to be involved in the said processes.

Regulation of lethal giant larvae by Dishevelled
Article Abstract:
The establishment of polarity in many cell types depends on Lgl, the tumour suppressor product of lethal giant larvae, which is involved in basolateral protein targeting. The finding that Wnt receptor causes Lgl to dissociate from the cortex with the concomitant loss of its activity in vivo, suggests a molecular basis for the regulation of cell polarity by Frizzled and Dishevelled.
