Plate boundary reorganization at a large-offset, rapidly propagating rift
Article Abstract:
A large-offset propagating rift in the spreading area of Pacific-Nazca ridge between the Easter and Juan Fernandez microplates reorganizes the plate boundary geometry. A 120 x 120 kilo meters overlap zone exists between the dual active spreading centers due to the fast duelling propagation. This overlapping system is the precursor of a new microplate. There are marked differences between the fossil overlap zones and the present overlap zone.

Mesozoic subducted slabs under Siberia
Article Abstract:
Subducted oceanic lithosphere can be observed as slabs of quite high seismic velocity in both the upper and lower mantle. High-velocity slabs have been observed in the Asian mantle. Evidence is provide for the presence of Jurassic slab remnants, subducted during the closure of the Mongol-Okhotsk and Kular-Nera oceans. The slab remnants are still recognizable after subduction.
