Stanley Prusiner is known for his 1982 research that advanced the theory that Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and bovine spongiforn encephalopathy and related diseases are due to rogue proteins. Although his study was ignored, Prusiner worked hard over the years and discovered further evidences to his theory.
