Potential impact of global climate change on species richness of long-distance migrants
Article Abstract:
The number of all species of land birds and the number and proportion of long-distance migrants, short distance migrants and residence in 595 grid cells across Europe were correlated to study the potential influence of global climate change on long distance migrants. The results suggest that increasingly warmer winters may pose a more severe threat to long-distance migrants than to the other bird groups.

Impact of forest fragmentation on understory plant species richness in Amazonia
Article Abstract:
Species richness and net seedling recruitment rate in forest fragments of 1, 10, and 100 ha and in continuous forest were recorded 9 to 19 years after fragmentation in central Amazonia. It has been found that a relevant decline in the species diversity of recruited seedlings in fragmented forest.

The magnitude of local host specificity for phytophagous insects and its implications for estimates of global species richness
Article Abstract:
A new method for predicting host specificity for phytophagous insects at a local scale based on the concept of effective specialization is provided. The host specificity for adult phytophagpus beetles in the forest is predicted to range from 7% to 10%.
