Interspecific communication in mixed-species groups of tamarins: evidence from playback experiments
Article Abstract:
Research describing the long-call vocalizations of saddle-back and emperor tamarins is presented. It is shown that long calls serve as interspecific communications between tamarin species.

Factors affecting the rates of food calls given by red-bellied tamarins
Article Abstract:
The food calling of the red-bellied tamarin appears to most heavily influenced by the bird's proximity to its groupmates and the quantity and quality of the food. Calling increases for large amounts of food of high quality, but tamarins also call when they are out of sight of their travelling mates, regardless of the amount of food located. This suggests that the main purpose of food calls may be to let allies know where the diner is located in order to promote group cohesion for protection.

Problem solving and functional design features: experiments on cotton-top tamarins, Saguinus oedipus oedipus
Article Abstract:
An experiment was carried out to assess whether cotton-top tamarins can find solutions to means-end tasks and focus on relevant features of the task, ignoring features that are not relevant. The tamarins were able to do this, and may be able to generalize from one problem to use information in another. The tamarins needed training for some tasks that they found difficult due to particular featural transformations. There are limitations to the tamarins' ability to solve these problems.
