Protection against mycoplasma infection using expression-library immunization
Article Abstract:
Treatment of mice with expression-library immunization (ELI), a method of vaccine development, provides the immunization of mice against any pathogen. It is made using the genome of Mycoplasma pulmonis (MP). The ELI library is constructed by fusing the exon encoding the human growth hormone to the DNA of M. pulmonis. Mice innoculated with this library and then treated with M. pulmonis do not show any lung lesion. Protection by the MP libraries is pathogenic-specific as there is no protection by the Listeria library.

Plasmid-based transgenic mouse model for studying in vivo mutations
Article Abstract:
A method developed for studying somatic mutations involve separation of mouse plasmids containing the lacZ reporter gene by putting a restriction on enzyme digestion. These plasmids are then introduced into Escherichia coli cells. Cells containing galE mutation are viable as they do not contain the UDPgal 4-epimerase enzyme when the wild-life cells die. In this method the DNA fragment is easily separated as the plasmid vector is small. In plasmid separation the mutant lacZ genes are easily identified.

A role for CD95 ligand in preventing graft rejection
Article Abstract:
Expression of the functional CD95 ligand (CD95L) in testis cells prevents rejection of allografts. An analysis of testis shows that CD95L messenger RNA is mainly formed of testicular Sertoli cells. Allogenic testis tissues of mice expressing CD95L grafted under the kidney capsule are not rejected while those from the gld mice, which do not express CD95L, are rejected. CD95L can be used to creat immune-privileged tissue for various transplant uses.
