Protein structure groups seek to draft common ground rules
Article Abstract:
A meeting to take place in Apr 2000 near Cambridge, England, will bring together scientists from the US, the UK, Japan, Germany, France and Israel to discuss the creation of common procedural guidelines for research in structural genomics. This initiative could form the basis for a single international structural-genomics programme. This would require agreement on standards for the quality of data released into a central database, along with a time frame. Further agreement on scientific issues such as how to divide proteins between research groups must also be considered.
