Proteins in urine scent marks of male house mice extend the longevity of olfactory signals
Article Abstract:
The effect of major urinary proteins (MUPs) on the longevity of the olfactory signals such as thiazole and brevicomin in urinary streaks is investigated by presenting native urine and urine with displaced semiochemicals from male mice to other male mice at increasingly longer intervals from the time of deposition. Results indicate that MUPs contribute to the longevity of olfactory signals by binding semiochemicals.

Excluding neighbors from territories: Effects of habitat structure and resource distribution
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to examine how the complexity of ground-level structure, presence of overhead cover and distribution of protected nest sites interact in determining rates of encounter, competitive behavior, resolution of conflicts and territory invasion among neighboring males. The effects of overhead cover on aggression among unfamiliar neighbors unexpectedly depended on the origin of the mice.

How does habitat structure affect activity and use of space among house mice?
Article Abstract:
The evidence for restriction, in the use of open habitats by mice, is presented. This is the case when there is no overhead cover and little ground-level complexity, and protected nest sites are located in only some areas of the habitat.
