Proto-vav and gene expression
Article Abstract:
Database searches failed to confirm the contention of X.R. Bustelo and colleagues and B. Margolis and colleagues that the vav proto-oncogene product influences DNA-binding and genetic transcription. These researchers argued that vav has these effects because it includes a 'leucine-zipper' motif, a 'zinc-finger' motif, two nuclear localization signals and a 'helix-loop-helix' domain. However, the databases bore out the alternative hypothesis that vav affects cytoskeletal organization through a signal transduction pathway.

Correlations in intronless DNA
Article Abstract:
Experimental evaluation disproved the contention of C.-K. Peng and colleagues that the purine/pyrimidine random walk model allows DNA sequences to be correlated and intronless sequences to be identified by determining the sequences' value of the exponent of a power law. The examination of the 80 biggest intronless portions of yeast chromosome III failed to confirm the algorithm necessary for the correlation and the intronless sequences.
