Rapid communication: restriction fragment length polymorphism in amplification products of the bovine growth hormone-releasing hormone gene
Article Abstract:
Application of the restriction enzyme HaeIII within PCR amplification products of the bovine growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) generated a restriction fragment length polymorphism. A GHRH gene portion was amplified using primers based on homologous regions of human and mouse GHRH cDNA sequences. GHRH was linked to CSSM30 on bovine chromosome 13 based on linkage analysis from the International Bovine Reference Panel and Cattle Genotypic Database.

Rapid communication: localization of the porcine Carboxypeptidase-E gene by linkage analysis further extends the region of synteny between human chromosome 4 and porcine chromosome 8
Article Abstract:
The restriction endonuclease MspI was used to identify a restriction fragment length polymorphism within polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification products of the porcine Carboxypeptidase E gene. Primers for the gene were designed by using regions of homology between cattle, human and rat CPE cDNA sequences. PCR revealed the presence of two alleles characterized by two cut bands of 825 bp and 375 bp and an uncut band of 1,200 bp.

Rapid communication: Mapping of leptin to bovine chromosome 4 by linkage analysis of a PCR-based polymorphism
Article Abstract:
The mapping of leptin to bovine chromosome 4 is presented. Probing was done by using linkage analysis of a polymerase chain reaction-based polymorphism. Results indicate that leptin has significant effects on obesity in mice because of changes in feed consumption. The identification of polymorphism, primer description and sequences, method of detection, inheritance pattern, allele frequencies and chromosome location are discussed.
