Raptors as indicators of environmental change in the scrub habitat of Baja California Sur, Mexico
Article Abstract:
Raptors are not always a reliable indicator for environmental change. A study of raptors in the scrublands of Baja California Sur, Mexico, showed swift adaptation to human-modified habitats. Neither raptor richness nor diversity had distribution patterns that reflected habitat transformations. Although scrublands have significantly declined in this region, most raptor populations have not.

Influence of landscape pattern on habitat use by American marten in an industrial forest
Article Abstract:
Researchers in this study examined relationships among measures of landscape pattern and spatial use of habitat by 33 resident and 32 nonresident adult marten that were radio-monitored in a logged landscaped. Their results showed that reducing fragmentation by consolidating clearcuts and keeping large residual patches help maintain resident marten in extensively logged landscapes.
