The vertebrate species of North America was lost some thirteen thousand years ago and now Africa's large mammals face extinction. An alternative conversation strategy is outlined to preserve the global fauna by highlighting the evolutionary and ecological potential that was lost by North America and using it to actively restore natural processes and manage extinction.

Deep-sea fishes qualify as endangered
Article Abstract:
A research survey data is used to show that five species of deep-sea fish have declined over a 17-year period in the Canadian waters of the northwest Atlantic to such an extent that they meet the IUCN criteria for being critically endangered. Results indicate that there is urgent need of action for the sustainable management of deep-sea fisheries.
