A test of how well the repeatability of courtship predicts its heritability
Article Abstract:
The repeatability and heritability estimates of wing buzzing of males and wing extension of females were investigated to determine if behavior repeatability is predictive of heritability in housefly courtship behavior. Results reveal that while males exhibit significant repeatability in wing buzzing this behavior is reduced in repeated attempts to court the same female. On the other hand, female houseflies do not exhibit significant wing-out repeatabilities but this trait was shown to be heritable.

Early visual experience affects mate choice of Drosophila melanogaster
Article Abstract:
Development of the nervous system amongst Drosophila melanogaster is experience-dependent. Mate choice is mediated by visual exposure history. Those pairs of flies that share a common visual exposure history have a higher reproductive success rate than pairs with a dissimilar exposure history. Thus, non-genetic factors have a role in mating success amongst Drosophila melanogaster.
