Redox regulation of cell signalling
Article Abstract:
Redox signalling in cells can be understood by finding a molecular target or site of molecular interaction for free radicals and environmental toxicants that are redox-active in nature. Molecular interaction between nitric oxide and the ras oncogene product p21 has helped in studying redox signalling in cells. The redox regulation occurs at the Cys 118 site. S-nitrosylation of this residue induces guanine nucleotide exchange and downstream signalling.

SoX2 is required for sensory organ development in the mammalian inner ear
Article Abstract:
The fact that inner ears of light coat and circling (Lcc)/Lcc mice that fail to establish a prosensory domain and differentiate neither hair cells nor supporting cells, that result in a severe inner ear malformation, is reported. It is found that SOX2 continues to be expressed in the inner ears of mice lacking Math1 expression that is absent in Lcc mutants, suggesting that Sox2 acts upstream of Math1.
