Refocusing NASA's vision
Article Abstract:
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is the largest project in NASA's science programme and its serious cost overruns, together with the space agency's transfer of money from the science budget to support future astronaut missions, is causing indefinite postponement of other important projects. The astronomy community must learn to live within its means, with most in the community probably preferring to go on small focused missions and research grants.

US space scientists rage over axed projects
Article Abstract:
The proposed cut to NASA's science budget on 6 February 2006 that is cut in growth of science spending by 17% between 2007 and 2010, unleashed the anger from US astronomers and planetary researchers. There is fury not just at the size of the cuts, but at how they were decided and announced to the science community, as NASA's advisory council was not operating during much of 2005.

Brave blue world: Human spaceflight is not excuse for ignoring the home planet, which needs constant monitoring from space
Article Abstract:
The human spaceflight and exploration of new spaces are very important, but it should not become an excuse for neglecting the monitoring of the Earth system, which shows urgency. NASA is facing shortage of funds and hence it is important that the resources required to study and monitor Earth are brought up to the desired levels.
