Article Abstract:
Economists David Hsu and Kwanghui Lim carried out a research to examine whether using expertise from contrasting scientific fields would help a biotechnology firm succeed. Their results show that by hiring researchers form various scientific disciplines a company increases its chances to complete an initial public offering, have a drug approved by the USFDA and having such experts aboard contributed most to its ability to use ideas from one technical domain to innovate in another area.
