Regioselective one-pot protection of carbohydrates
Article Abstract:
A combinatorial and highly-regioselective method is used for protecting individual hydroxy groups of a monosaccharide. Many building blocks are prepared starting from D-glucose and the iterative coupling of these building blocks has helped in assembling [beta]-1,6-glucans and a library of oligosaccharides based on the influenza-virus-binding trisaccharide.

Chemical glycosylation in the synthesis of glycoconjugate antitumour vaccines
Article Abstract:
An overview of selected glycosylation processes and strategies applied to the synthesis of tumour-associated carbohydrate antigens (TACA) and immunoadjuvants is presented. The advances in chemical glycosylation allow organic synthesis to fulfill its role as a supplier of rare carbohydrate antigens identified as potential targets for cancer immunotherapy.

How a T cell sees sugar
Article Abstract:
The crystal structure of an [alpha][beta]-T-cell receptor bound to a glycolipid antigen that is in a complex with a CD1 protein rotates clockwise from its classical position to make contact with antigen and recognize the carbohydrates.
