Respect for stromatolites
Article Abstract:
Stromatolites are laminated sedimentary structures, with shapes that range from simple domes to elaborately branched columns, and size varying from the millimeter scale to more than 10 meters. They are biogenic in origin and formed on a carbonate platform, a broad and relatively flat expanse of carbonate sediment that was subject to the influence of tides but generally remained submerged, and sea-level rise was a major feature of this environment.

Host-parasite 'Red Queen' dynamics archived in pond sediment
Article Abstract:
Rapid coevolutionary dynamics are reconstructed in a natural setting like a pond sediment to show that a parasite rapidly adapts to its host over a period of only a few years.
