Increases in serum sphingosine and sphinganine and decreases in complex sphingolipids in ponies given feed containing fumonisins, mycotoxins produced by Fusarium moniliforme
Article Abstract:
A study was done on the levels of sphingosine, sphinganine and complex sphingolipids in ponies given feed containing fumonisins and mycotoxins produced by Fusarium moniliforme. It was shown that consumption of feed contaminated with fumonisins alters sphingolipid profiles in serum by inhibiting sphinganine N-acyltransferase resulting to an elevation of serum sphingosine and sphinganine levels. This accumulation of free long-chain bases provide an early marker of exposure of animals to contaminated feed.

Rocketing from the Galaxy Bazaar
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the development and use of rockets in India gives a valuable insight into why India did not undergo a scientific or industrial revolution in the 19th century in the same way as western countries. Indian rockets were extremely advanced by the end of the 18th century, but the rigid social system prevented knowledge of rocket technology becoming widespread. Furthermore, India was already wealthier than western countries, and therefore did not require a scientific or industrial revolution.
