Royal roots

Article Abstract:

Hawaii's Honolulu Zoo is undergoing renovations that will offer visitors several open-space ecological zones rather than outdated exhibits. These zones include a tropical rainforest and an African savanna, and will feature plants and animals native to these habitats. The zoo was founded on a 300-acre public land grant from Hawaii's King David Kalakaua in 1876, and is home to 1,400 animals. It draws nearly 700,000 visitors a year.

Wild tigers

Article Abstract:

Wild tigers are one of the most fascinating but hard to photograph animals. Tigers because of their wild nature do not let other species approach them on foot. Mothers are very protective of their cubs and intentionally avoid cleared fields. They prefer tall grass where they can hide and avoid being seen.
