Scientists become targets in Iraq
Article Abstract:
Academics, intellectuals and scientists are increasingly assassinated or kidnapped in violence ridden Iraq, which appears as a systematic effort to eliminate or exile a group crucial to the country's reconstruction. Breakdown in security and stability under US occupation and lack of investigations and prosecutions have led to increased crime and corruption.

US intelligence exposed as student decodes Iraq memo
Article Abstract:
Claire Whelan, a graduate student in computer science at Dublin City University in Ireland and one of her PhD supervisors David Naccache, a cryptographer with Gemplus, tackled and managed to decrypt two high profile documents of the US intelligence. The method used by them and the contents of the memo are discussed.

Publishers irritated by Google's digital library

An argument is developing between academic publishers and Google over the internet-search company's plan to digitize and index library collections at major research universities. Some publishers complain that Google did not consult them, and that scanning library collections could be illegal.
