Environments in drag?
Article Abstract:
Architecture and interior design are also as much a conscious projection of image as the way people portray themselves. These portrayals say much about one's personality, but environment's effects on individuals are more subtle and pervasive. The environment's image results from a 'social contract' among the perceivers, the occupants and the creator of the environment. The former expects the environment to reflect the values of the latter, and the latter in turn expects the creator to project an exaggerated image. The result is an illusion.
