Simulating micrometre-scale crystal growth from solution
Article Abstract:
Crystal shape can influence both chemical and physical properties and hence a study on the urea-solvent interface at the nanometre scale and report kinetic Monte Carlo simulations of the micrometre-scale-three-dimensional growth of urea crystals, was performed. These simulations accurately reproduce experimentally observed crystal growth.

Assembly line inspection
Article Abstract:
Talkington and co-workers use isotopically labelled proteins and mass spectroscopy to follow the assembly of one macro-molecular complex, the 30S ribosome in real time. The elegance of their experimental design should allow it to be adapted to a wide range of such complexes, offering a new approach to the study of cellular dynamics.
