Singled out for integration
Article Abstract:
The mobile DNA elements called as integron cassettes are the major vehicles in the transfer of genes among bacteria in generating diversity, allowing bacteria to adapt quickly to the changing environments. Integron cassettes contain a single gene from large range of gene types including encoding antibiotic resistance factors, virulence factors and restriction endonuclease enzymes.

Pilus chaperones represent a new type of protein-folding catalyst
Article Abstract:
Studies demonstrate that the periplasmic type 1 pilus chaperone FilmC binds non-native pilus subunits and accelerates folding of the subunit FimG by 100-fold. It is observed that Film C represents a previously unknown type of protein-folding catalyst, and simultaneously acts as a kinetic trap preventing spontaneous subunit assembly in the periplasm.
